  • Description; 2-cycle gas is mixed with oil two keep the engine lubed because the design of the engine has an open crankcase.
  • These types of weed eaters tend to be the most popular and powerful. Because of the 2-cycle oil mixture they have the highest RPM of all the types of weed eaters. Which is great because the faster the head of the weed eater can spin the better it will cut.

Pros

  • When using gas powered weed eaters you are not limited in distance by having to drag an electrical extension cord. Or have to worry about a battery going dead half way through your job. (Electric weed eater, Battery powered weed eaters)

  • Is able to handle any job from sticker bushes, to getting in between cracks in the sidewalk, and around delicate flowers.
  • Reliable in cold or hot temperatures as well as rain.

Cons

  • If not properly cared for the 2-cycle gas can gum up in the tank and fuel lines.
  • Will need maintenance like spark plug and exhaust filter replacement. Which you can do yourself but will need to be brought to a lawnmower shop for an over hall every 5 years or so depending hours of use.
  • Requires you to have a separate gas can for the 2-cycle premixed gas, as well as buying the 2-cycle oil.
  • Can over heat the engine in hotter weather on extended periods of use.
